In this key position, you will lead our efforts and manage the team focused on identifying and executing cost reduction and process improvement opportunities for our Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Department. You will help develop and implement an operational model based on CQI principles.  Your role involves driving multi-year strategic initiatives that leverage our health system volume, optimize the number of vendors/products and create pre-arranged supply channels and/or contracting.  In coordination with the Director and Strategic Sourcing Coordinators, you will establish annual cost saving work plans while monitoring our progress in meeting savings targets.  As the strategic sourcing liaison between UCLA Health and the UC Health system, you will monitor local/group/system-wide purchasing agreements to ensure contract compliance and initiate cost reductions or strategic sourcing initiatives.  You will also:

 

*      Provide team training and development

*      Serve as the sourcing coordinator for Surgical Services departments

*      Help develop and maintain appropriate management reports

*      Assist with the review and execution of major procurement controls

*      Provide advice to departments on complex purchasing issues

*      Maintain a centralized purchasing and strategic sourcing program

*      Administer programs with Vizient, University of California and Small and Disadvantage Businesses

*      Lead strategic sourcing for UCLA Health Surgical Services

*      Oversee cost savings database and dashboard

Qualifications

 

We're seeking a highly-motivated, self-directed and detail-oriented professional with:

 

*      Related Bachelor's degree - Master's preferred

*      Five to ten years of healthcare procurement and strategic sourcing experience

*      Leadership experience in a complex academic medical center or health system preferred

*      Expertise in healthcare procurement and strategic sourcing principles

*      Ability to develop strategic sourcing initiatives, dashboard reports, and cost saving analysis

*      Experience implementing technology solutions for procurement/sourcing

*      Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio

*      Understanding of enterprise integrated financial systems

*      Exceptional communication, interpersonal, customer service, multi-tasking and analytical skills

*      Ability to draft and analyze complex contracts and other documentation

*      Knowledge of relevant industry trends and issues

*      Knowledge of standards and regulations governing the procurement of goods and services in a state operated university environment

*      Proven success in project management

*      Strong leadership and coalition/consensus building skills

*      Ability to establish and monitor appropriate performance metrics

*      Proven success in driving organizational change
