Job Description

  • Performs all phases of healthcare construction, demolition, metal stud framing, drywall hanging, concrete, flooring, and ceiling grid systems;
  • Requires minimal supervision to safely perform essential functions;
  • Utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment/supplies that are necessary to perform essential functions;
  • Performs building demolition as directed;
  • Installs metal stud framing as directed;
  • Installs and muds sheetrock as needed;
  • Performs small concrete repairs as needed;
  • Installs semi-ridge wall paneling as needed;
  • Demos, repairs and installs flooring as directed;
  • Hangs and repairs ceiling grid systems;
  • Installs ceiling tiles as needed;
  • Lays out work according to specifications and blueprints;
  • Lays out walls for framing, electrical and plumbing locations;
  • Responsible for ensuring work is completed within ICRA & ILSM guidelines;
  • Provides supervisor with needed material list for projects;
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned;
  • Informs supervisor on the status and progress of various projects;
  • Assists other crafts and trades as needed;
  • Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values;
  • Adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality and infection control practices and guidelines;
  • Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, healthcare team and staff in person and via telephone;
  • Responds to overhead pages, digital pagers and two-way radio;
  • Uses radio in the proper manner when communicating and answers in a timely manner;
  • Maintains accurate and complete records.
High school diploma or equivalent, six years of construction experience and possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
