Job Summary:
Summer semester off! This position will be working 30 weeks (19 of 26 bi-weekly periods/ 25 hours per week.) It is a salaried/exempt position paying between $27,000 up to $30,750 on an annual basis.
In collaboration with the nursing simulation faculty, responsible for the management of equipment and learning activities for the Nursing Education Center. Collaborates with the nursing faculty to support instruction and other professional contributions aligned with the mission and strategic goals of the College and the Academic Services Unit. Assists the nursing faculty and nursing faculty with implementation of program curricula requirements. Supports effective simulation in alignment with program and course outcomes. Other duties as directed by the nursing simulation faculty.


Essential Functions:
1. Supports the delivery of quality instruction in the NEC.
2. Ensures that NEC is set up for demonstrations, student evaluation (skill validations), and simulation.
3. Organizes storage of and maintains card catalog, reference files or inventory files on all holdings of A-V materials and equipment as well as nursing practice equipment and supplies. Meets regulatory standards for same.
4. Collaborates with the nursing faculty in the effective delivery of the clinical skill validation process.
5. Collaborates with nursing faculty to develop learning support strategies to meet clinical course objectives and other program requirements.
6. Maintains a student worker schedule for the NEC utilization.
7. Upholds the academic standards and demonstrates clinical expertise in the NEC skills.
8. Serves as a student mentor and facilitator for the simulation skills process.
9. Recommends equipment and supplies for purchase. Assures equipment is commensurate with use of by local clinical facilities.
10. Collaborates with nursing faculty to identify items and placing orders of lab equipment packs for student use.
11. Represents the NEC to outside organizations. Serves as a contact person for potential use of the NEC by internal and external parties.
12. In collaboration with Nursing Simulation Faculty, establishes guidelines for use of the NEC.
13. Coordinates the hiring and supervision of student workers.
14. Assists the Nursing Simulation Faculty as needed.
15. Oversees security of equipment and supplies with support from Facilities and IT Departments.
16. Maintains open hours of the NEC.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:
Under the supervision of the nursing simulation faculty, the Nursing Education Center Specialist is responsible to assist the Nursing Education Center Manager for the overall management of equipment and activities for the Nursing Education Center. Implements and sustains specific course/program curricula requirements aligned with the educational mission and goals of the Health Sciences Division and the College.


Job Specifications:
Current unencumbered RN license in the State of Michigan.
• Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited college/university.
• Minimum of two (2) years clinical teaching experience in one or more of the following settings; long term care, adult medical surgical, behavioral health, maternal-child, and/or pediatrics.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology.
• Experience working with a diverse population.
• Maintain professional credentials as required by the State of Michigan and program accreditation standards for continued qualification as nursing clinical assistant.
• BLS certification.
• Current health requirements per nursing program and clinical site requirements.


Grade: C11
Salary Range: $36-$41/hr (based on 750 hours per year)
