Job Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Pathologists' Assistant. Primary responsibilities include:
*Under general supervision of a pathologist, independently perform or assist in dissection, describing, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens
*Perform specimen photography and radiography
*Perform frozen sections and other intraoperative consultations
*Procure tissue for tumor banking and research studies
*Participates in the orientation and training of residents, fellows, new employees, and Pathologists' Assistant students in surgical pathology protocols and procedures
*Identify, investigate, and resolve problems related to surgical pathology
*Participate and/or assist in accessioning and labeling specimens
*Bachelor's degree
*PA (ASCP) certified or must pass PA (ASCP) exam within 12 months of hire
*2 or more years of relevant work experience, preferred
