Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Audiologist performs duties that include providing all types of diagnostic audiometric testing and interpretation.

PERFORM DEPARTMENT DUTIES IN A TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER.

  1. Perform and interpret diagnostic testing, including but not limited to, comprehensive audiologic evaluations, impedance testing, ABR, ENG, fistula testing, OAE, CAP evaluation, ET included in impedance and Ecoch G, auditory process evaluations.
  2. Counsel patients regarding hearing aids; provide hearing aid evaluations and fittings.
  3. Order hearing aids in a timely manner and give to secretary for shipping.
  4. Perform in-house repair and modifications of hearing aids when possible.
  5. Conduct follow-up consultations and counseling.
  6. Advise appropriate patients on securing local, state or federal assistance for purchase of hearing aids.
  7. Monitor condition of equipment and call appropriate repair/maintenance personnel when necessary.
  8. Monitor stock in each booth or room and replenish when low; advise Business Office personnel when supplies need to be ordered, providing detailed reorder list.
  9. Clean headphones, probe tips, etc., on a regular basis.
  10. Provide inservices/lectures as requested; conduct industrial testing and reports per OSHA requirements when requested; remain abreast of OSHA requirement changes, FDA and state laws governing sale of hearing aids/assistive listening devices.
  11. Participate in health fairs.
  12. Arrange for necessary examinations & CEU's prior to deadlines.
  13. Travel to satellite sites when necessary and to the Moore County School System during times contracted with them.
  14. Management of Moore County School contract.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a Master of Science, Master of Arts or Au.D., Audiology; state license from the State of North Carolina Board of Examiners Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists; national board certification; license to dispense H.A. from the state of North Carolina; physical guidelines include the ability to communicate in an auditory-oral mode.

Physical guidelines include corrected hearing to normal range.
