As one of the top health systems in the nation and the #1 hospital in California, UCLA Health is a growing, complex organization requiring the highest capabilities in budgeting and finance. As the Budget Systems Manager for our system, you will provide key leadership for the team that manages the budgeting, financial planning and operational finance for a $3 billion annual operating budget that includes three hospitals and over 600 cost centers.  You will:

 

  • Maintain budget financial systems, including interfaces, databases, and user access
  • Develop complete, accurate, timely and insightful automated reporting
  • Supervise, guide and review deliverables of direct reports
  • Develop annual cost centers budgets
  • Review and analyze monthly budget variance and trends
  • Identify opportunities to realign cost centers to budget
  • Work with cost centers to identify opportunities for efficiencies
  • Prioritize and implement system, tool, process and other initiatives
  • Establish metrics and benchmarks to measure progress and success
  • Build strong relationships with cost centers as their trusted financial advisor
  • Assist cost centers with maintaining resources within metrics
Qualifications

 

We're seeking a highly motivated, results driven, quality-focused leader with:

 

*      Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or other business-related field - advanced degree preferred

*      At least ten years of financial management experience, including two or more years in an academic medical center, health system of similar setting

*      Ten or more years of experience preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual budget, forecast, and long-range plans, with detailed variance analysis

*      In-depth knowledge of the financial elements of healthcare delivery

*      Thorough understanding of financial transactions and financial systems

*      Solid experience implementing a large-scale, integrated client server/ERP

*      Expertise in data analytics, database software, and data visualization

*      Proficiency in process improvement approaches and methods

*      Strong project management, planning, prioritizing and assessment skills

*      Advanced critical thinking, problem solving and analytical abilities

*      Ability to inspire and influence others to accomplish goals

*      Outstanding communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills

*      Ability to work effectively under strict time constraints

*      Flexibility to manage changing priorities

*      High standards for performance, quality, credibility and integrity

*      Previous supervisory experience preferred

*      EPSI budgeting system experience highly desirable

*      System administrator experience highly desirable
