Job Details:

Reporting to the Cambridge Health Alliance Foundation President, the Director of Development will assume a leadership role in expanding private philanthropic support for the Cambridge Health Alliance Foundation. With a particular focus on managing development activities, the incumbent will oversee individual, corporate and foundation giving. S/he will manage major fundraising events and solicit/steward major donors pre and post events. S/he will serve as an advocate for Cambridge Health Alliance mission in the community.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic advice and direction to the Executive to increase private philanthropic support for the Cambridge Health Alliance • Develop an annual plan for expanding private philanthropic support for Cambridge Health Alliance • Develop systems to identify new major donors through special events and annual fund. • Expand annual payroll giving • Develop a stewardship program to keep major donor prospects engaged with the Alliance • Plan and execute new special events. This entails: o Establish financial goals for each event and maintain event budget o Developing a solicitation strategy and soliciting major donors for support o Managing the events o Cultivating donors during and after the event o Develop an effective use of media to enhance the quality of special events o Analyze event results and develop improvement plan • Recruit and steward foundation members in pursuit of fulfilling fundraising objectives • Develop and manage a portfolio of 50 major donor prospects • Conduct a minimum of 50 face-to face meetings with major donor prospects, per year • Identify, track, and steward major donor prospects toward meeting fundraising goals • Manage internal and external fundraising committees, and volunteer groups • Supervise development staff and volunteers


Qualifications:

• Must embrace mission of Cambridge Health Alliance • Bachelor's degree • 10+ years of increasing fund-raising success • Strong interpersonal, writing, and speaking skills • Experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and growing fundraising programs. Proven track record in major gifts • Experience working with volunteer leadership and the ability to interact at the executive level. Possess skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and volunteers • Knowledge of fundraising strategies • Willingness and ability to travel within Massachusetts • Willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends as necessary • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and translate information for all audiences • Outstanding strategic thinking skills and the ability to build support for CHA's vision of the future • Self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls • Organized, detail oriented, and exhibit timely follow-through on tasks and goals • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and the community, demonstrates patience, self-confidence, and common sense

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven management, leadership, organizational, and mentoring skills with the ability to work collaboratively • Experience setting and meeting fundraising goals • Experience analyzing data to identify fundraising potential • Proven collaboration with volunteers and staff on fundraising projects • Fundraising experience with an entrepreneurial approach • Marketing experience a plus • Strong computer skills
