Electrician


The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) is the shared services organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges located in Southern California. Job Description:
Repair and maintain electrical systems by repairing, maintaining and installing
electrical systems and equipment ranging in voltage from 110 volts to 480 volts.

Essential Functions
The incumbent performs these essential duties and responsibilities:

Repair and Maintain Electrical Systems Duties
Assisting in the operation and maintenance of the campus electrical substation.
Troubleshooting electrical problems by locating and determining electrical
malfunctions using test instruments such as ammeter, multimeter, circuit tracer, etc.
Repairing malfunctions by such methods as replacing burnt out elements and fuses,
bypassing or replacing defective wiring, cleaning and troubleshooting motors and
controls, and replacing fixture ballasts.
Testing electrical equipment such as motors and heaters for safety and efficiency.
Bending and installing wire-mold, EMT, and rigid conduit.
Installing fixtures, motors and other electrical equipment.
Inspecting circuits and wiring for specified shielding and g rounding and repairing or
rewiring systems according to building codes and safety regulations.
Repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic components of electrical
equipment.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, maintenance manuals and
specifications. Troubleshooting existing installations and installing new electrical
systems based on this information

Support Electric Shop and Central Facilities Services
Maintaining as-built drawings of work undertaken to depict actual construction
variances from design drawings.
Learning FMCS controls as required by updated technologies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education
California State Certification


Required Knowledge and Critical Skills:
Three years of experience demonstrating the ability to apply the techniques of the trade.

Required Knowledge and Critical Skills
Competencies required include possess communication skills including general ability to speak, read, comprehend and write the English language.
Possess mathematical skills to include as a minimum ability to add, subtract, multiply
and divide, determine linear measurements, compute areas and volumes of
conventional shapes and forms, and compute approximate weight of objects.
Possess ability to climb ladders, crawl in attics and under buildings, lift and carry heavy
equipment, bend, stoop, work from heights, and work in uncomfortable positions. Be
physically capable of working under all weather conditions.
Be able to be contacted by telephone during non-working hours.
Be available for overtime work and to be on call.
Be capable of wearing protective clothing and equipment as required by the tasks being
performed.
Be able to work in a safe manner and comply with all applicable OSHA and CALOSHA
rules.
Use Microsoft Office applications.
Neat and professional appearance and be capable of performing all tasks and
presenting one's self in a manner that reflects well on CFS and TCCS, and of promoting
the interests of these organizations throughout The Claremont Colleges.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under The Claremont
Colleges insurance.

Required Hours
The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary
due to needs of the organization or business unit.
