Description:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a collaborative leader who thrives managing the facilities team to ensure the environment is safe, welcoming, and a well-maintained environment for kids, volunteers, staff, and guests. This individual excels in teamwork while navigating the day-to-day focus on building repairs and maintenance. Their expertise is essential for working independently tackling projects both big and small, ensuring every aspect of the facility is functioning at its best.


Management:

  • Provide daily supervision of assigned year-round, seasonal and volunteer team members.
  • Coordinate ongoing utilities (electric, water, and gas).
  • Collaborate with Director of Facilities to guide building and maintenance plans to ensure proper code requirements and longevity of assets.
  • Manage camp vehicle policies and procedures in compliance with ACA and SFCN standards.
  • Maintain, review and uphold assigned facilities compliance indicators for the ACA certification and SFCN criteria

Maintenance:

  • Complete daily rounds of facilities and grounds, to ensure all areas are in excellent condition.
  • Manage and assist directly with the timely and accurate completion of daily work orders, including both preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Effectively secure materials needed to complete work orders in accordance with property budgets.
  • Complete and record facilities checklists (vehicle maintenance, filter checks, etc.).
  • Complete and record facilities requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist in opening and closing all activity areas by season (pool, buildings, grounds, lake).
  • Proactively identify and execute cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned and unassigned as appropriate.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments to align facilities needs with organizational priorities.
  • Plan work alongside of camp opening and closing workday groups.
  • Fill the role of safety on Emergency Staffing Table in the event of an emergency.
  • Respond to facility calls & requests during camp sessions as needed.
  • Ensure all buildings and program areas are ready for campers, and accessible for safety prior to each camp session.
  • Assist in planning, set up and tear down of onsite events such as Campfire, FHF's annual onsite fundraising event and guest experience.

Vender and Outside Contractor Management:

  • Coordinate vendor relationships and scheduling of garbage, recycling, natural resources (fuel, diesel, propane), pest protection.
  • Coordinate projects with third-party contractors.
  • Assist in vendor management for guest experiences and workdays.
Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License and ability to meet minimum camp insurance requirement
  • Desire to work in a residential camp community
  • Prior commercial maintenance experience.
  • Ability to perform plumbing, electric, and HVAC repairs (HVAC certification and experience required; additional certifications are a plus).

  • Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and adapt each day to new opportunities and challenges.
  • Be able to read and understand building prints
  • Be comfortable working in the elements (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
  • Good character, integrity, adaptability, patience, self-control, and self-discipline.
  • Working knowledge in engineering, painting, construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, water and sanitary systems, ground keeping, vehicle and machinery operation and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in the safe and proper use of power equipment and tools, heavy and light machinery and building materials.
  • Ability to understand and implement safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate policies and procedures to campers, staff, volunteers and guests.
  • Ability, both visual and auditory, to identify and respond to safety and environmental hazards and inform campers, staff, volunteers and guests.
  • Ability to lift 80-100 pounds and to accomplish the above-described tasks.
  • Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking/climbing for long periods of time (60 minutes or more).
  • Ability to safely drive cars, light trucks, tractors and other motorized vehicles.
  • Ability to be on call and accessible during overnight hours
