We seek a dynamic, collaborative leader who has an established track record for high quality curricular development at the university level and who is interested in preparing genetic counselors for 21st Century careers. The successful candidate will have a unique and exciting mandate and will work with faculty to design, build and nurture the University's offerings to attain enhanced student achievement and external recognition. An appreciation for an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative and innovative approaches to academic program development.The Genetic Counseling Program Director serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Genetic Counseling (GC) Program and will lead the GC program. The Program Director will manage the program, be knowledgeable and responsible for the accreditation process, and has the primary responsibility for the program's organization, administration, fiscal budget, continuous review and analysis of planning, assessment and development. The Program Director supervises the medical director, faculty and staff in all program-related activities.

The Program Director will lead the development and execution of the strategy to identify, evaluate and launch new opportunities at Bay Path University.

The Program Director will have teaching responsibilities in this program and specific courses will be defined on annual workload form. This person must be available to teach in all three semesters.

This position is a non-tenure position. Reporting to the Associate Provost of the SEHHS, this position is instrumental in the overseeing the program, faculty and the education of its students. This position will be located at the East Longmeadow campus in year one.

Bay Path University's School of Education, Human and Health Sciences houses the University's Genetic Counseling, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Mental Health and Programs in Education, Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. Through evidence-based practice and project-based learning, these programs prepare health care professionals for success in a rapidly changing global environment, with applied work, clinical rotations, practicums and fieldwork assignments.

The scholar selected for this position will join a collaborative and dedicated School who emphasize excellence in education at all levels. S/he will be involved in expanding program offerings; grow enrollments substantially; lead school partnerships and significant new initiatives for the purposes of cutting-edge preparation. The director will be expected to conduct research, secure outside funding; participate in curriculum development and innovation; teach graduate and possible undergraduate courses including teaching courses using alternative delivery methods: online, hybrid, weekends; advise graduate students; participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; and contribute to the service mission of the University and the School.


Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling/Human Genetics from a program by the American Board of Medical Genetics is required; doctorate degree or willingness to pursue a doctorate degree is preferred.
  • Administrative, teaching and/or research experience in the field of genetic counseling is desirable.
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical genetic counseling.
  • Knowledge in Human Genetics. Knowledge of and experience in genetic counseling.
  • Administrative, teaching and/or research experience in the field of genetic counseling is desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Skillful problem solving capabilities.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Online teaching desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Adept interpersonal skills and communication via phone and email.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
