Job Description


The Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA is seeking a skilled therapist to join the Clinical Social Work Department. This job is in the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

The Adult PHP/IOP is a group-based program that treats adults with acute mental illness. Patients participate in up to 6 groups per day. Groups are designed to help the patients reach treatment goals over the course of approximately 6-8 weeks. The Adult PHP/IOP currently offers groups both in person and via telehealth.
The Clinical Social Worker (CSW) plans and facilitates group sessions using various evidence-based treatment modalities including DBT, ACT, CBT, Social Skills Training. The CSW facilitates process groups and goals-setting groups. The CSW creates, plans and facilitates groups with distinct topics based on patients' needs.
The CSW works with a caseload of individual patients participating in the program. The CSW assesses the patient, creates a treatment plan, identifies SMART goals, and designs interventions to help patients meet goals. In individual sessions, the CSW administers validated screening tools, assesses the patient's progress toward goals, engages the patient in safety planning, provides case management services, coordinates discharge, and when indicated, engages family in treatment.

The CSW provides periodic (approximately 5x/year) weekend and holiday coverage on the inpatient psychiatry units. 


Required: MSW and LCSW

Experience planning and facilitating psychotherapy groups
Experience providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment modalities
Ability to assess suicidality and knowledge of safety planning
Knowledge of DSM 5 diagnoses
Excellent writing skills
Ability to work both autonomously and in team. Teamwork includes collaboration with other clinical social workers in the program and the department, collaboration with interdisciplinary team, and collaboration with patient and family
