Lead Mechanic

The Lead Mechanic position works in the Trucking Maintenance Shop and would be a working lead role.

The Lead Mechanic assists the other Diesel Mechanics with guidance on all aspects of Truck & Trailer repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of all assigned equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to assigned equipment.
• Read and comprehend service troubleshooting guides using OEM software
• Maintain an advanced level of skill in diesel after treatment, air brakes, electrical and lighting systems.
• Perform safety and annual inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations
• Train and assist technicians on new or advanced repairs
• Service as a backup to the shop manager by directing workflow in the shop
• Track and assist in warranty filing
• Assist with tire retread inventory and orders
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company/OSHA standards
• Interact courteously and professionally with drivers, vendors, and other employees regarding vehicle repairs and shop business.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• 10+ years of heavy-duty repair and maintenance experience
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Effective communicator with strong written and oral skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Basic level of Microsoft office skills

Special Requirements

• Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Experience with OEM diagnostic software is required
• Brake certification or experience in accordance with FMCSA § 396.25 required
• Valid CDL is preferred but not required
