Part-Time Lab Manager

Do you want to help make the world a better place by eliminating the risk of infectious diseases? The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences is seeking to hire one or more highly motivated individuals as part-time Lab Manager(s)/Technician(s) (for up to 24 hours per week) to work in the laboratory of Dr. Vivek Kapur on projects that are funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and various other major US and international funding agencies. Typical laboratory duties may include but are not limited to performing basic molecular biological techniques (DNA extraction, conventional and real-time PCR), immunoassays, preparation of bacteriological media, maintaining inventories, ordering lab supplies, etc. Basic office responsibilities may include but are not limited to: scheduling meetings, ordering office supplies, assisting with grant and proposal preparation and submission, making travel arrangements as well as processing travel and other expense reports through the Employee Reimbursement System (ERS). A Bachelor`s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field is preferred. Attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills, ability to write correspondence and reports, and excellent organizational skills are required. Include a cover letter that summarizes relevant experience and specific reasons for interest in the position, along with a CV that includes contact information for three references (name, position/title, telephone number, and email address).
