Job Description

The Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center (OTRC) of the NCI-Designated Stephenson Cancer Center (SCC) at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is seeking health behavior change researchers to join our growing program. We invite applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level who conduct research with a focus in one or more of the following general areas:
  • Tobacco use behavior and/or cessation using community-based, laboratory, mobile health, and/or clinical/intervention approaches with a particular   focus on vulnerable populations of smokers (e.g., socioeconomically disadvantaged, rural, racial/ethnic minority, American Indian, serious mental illness, LGBTQ, pregnant women)
  • Tobacco regulatory science
  • Multiple health behavior change interventions (e.g., smoking cessation, marijuana cessation, exercise/obesity) and/or longitudinal trajectories of health behavior change.
These faculty positions are hard money, offer very competitive salaries and generous start-up and incentives packages. Rank to be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Successful applicants at the Assistant Professor level will have a strong academic record, with evidence of scholarship and show strong potential for acquiring extramural funding. Applicants at the Associate or Full Professor level should have a strong record of extramural funding. Application review will begin in November 2019. The OTRC (http://otrc.stephensoncancercenter.org) provides an exceptional infrastructure for conducting multidisciplinary, community-based, laboratory, mobile health, and clinical research. Its research and community outreach activities impact the entire state, with a special focus on the undeserved such as Oklahoma’s large American Indian, rural, and socioeconomically disadvantaged populations that experience higher rates of tobacco use and dependence.
 
The NCI-Designated SCC is Oklahoma’s only academic cancer center. With a well-developed and supportive infrastructure and over 279 members from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and several other entities, the SCC places a high priority on promoting transnational research that moves research ideas into clinical applications.
