$3000 Signing bonus: $750 paid out each quarter for 12 months

Position Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe, electrical and hydraulic systems in industrial establishment.

Language Skills: English proficiency required. Spanish is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Amount of Travel Involved: None.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible at all times.
  • Perform basic metal fabrication using hand tools, lathe and end mill.
  • Repair bearings, belt sprockets, chains and gearboxes.
  • Repair compressed air systems.
  • Repair conveyor controls and devices.
  • Perform conveyor lubrication and inspection
  • Repair and inspect hydraulic powered equipment.
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures when necessary.
  • Install and repair PVC, copper, stainless and steel pipe systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps and valves.
  • Ability to weld, ARC and MIG (TIG desirable).
  • Assist other Maintenance Mechanics in the performance of their duties.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and interaction with customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Keep tools and work area clean and sanitary.
  • Work scheduled shift, weekends, and extended hours as required.
  • Carry out changeovers for packers, cartoners, and sleever machines, ensuring proper alignment with center lines.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and troubleshoot simple issues.
  • Familiarity with basic diagnostic tools like multimeters and continuity testers.
  • Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and visual inspections of machinery.
  • Assist senior technicians and engineers in troubleshooting and repair tasks.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues such as misaligned belts, worn bearings, and jammed equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain and repair recycling area balers.
  • Repair and maintain conveyors (Accumulation Tables, empty package, full case, full product, mass full product, Ryson Spiral, Hytrol).
  • Repair and maintain waste water treatment system.
  • Repair and maintain automated overhead shrink wrap machines.
  • Ability to operate and maintain utility and support equipment, including water treatment systems, RO systems, water softeners, carbon filters, air compressors, air dryers, steam boilers, and glycol systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair low-voltage systems, including sensors, photo eyes, I/O cards, proximity sensors, process sensors, safety systems, and related components.
  • Perform can diameter changeovers on the fillers, ensuring centerline alignment.
  • Rebuild pumps, including centrifugal, positive displacement (PD), diaphragm, and other types, following manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain and repair blending room equipment, including carbonators, pumps, valves, glycol systems, CIP systems, tanks, motors, mixers, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to install and run new power lines for both low and high voltage systems.
  • Read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Perform changeovers on cartoners, packers, sleevers, depalletizers, palletizers, conveyor systems, and wrap machines, adjusting timing and centerline alignment to achieve maximum speeds and meet quality specs.
  • Ability to replace mechanical components like pumps, valves, and actuators.
  • Familiarity with beverage canning equipment such as high-speed filling lines, pasteurizers, and labeling machines.
  • Experience with mechanical tools such as dial indicators, micrometers, and pullers.
  • Maintain and repair Nitrogen Injection systems.
  • Repair roll up doors and yard gates.
  • Perform full changeovers on the filler and seamer for different can diameters and heights, adjusting timing and centerline alignment to achieve maximum speeds and meet quality specs.
  • Ability to work on and troubleshoot 3-phase 480V components, including motors, vacuum pumps, liquid pumps, VFDs.
  • Ability to resolve minor VFD and servo code faults and collaborate with automation engineers on repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot safety components, such as safety relays, light curtains, interlocks, and emergency stop systems.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis and other predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Lead mechanical projects, including equipment upgrades or overhauls.
  • Familiarity with OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) metrics and strategies for mechanical improvements.
  • Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Boiler system operation maintenance.
  • Repair CO2 Receiver.
  • Maintain and repair Can &Bottle Clean in Place (CIP) systems.
  • Troubleshoot single/three phase and low voltage electrical.
  • Change over, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fillers (KHS, CFT).
  • Maintain and repair can level sensors and dud detectors (Filtec).
  • Repair Nitrogen Systems.
  • Change over, adjust, set up, maintain and repair can line seamers (Angelus, KHS, Ferrum 120).
  • Troubleshoot, program, and install variable frequency drive (VFD).
  • Strong ability to work unsupervised.
  • Assist with training Maintenance Mechanics.
  • Cover limited supervisory duties, such as taking shift notes, scheduling team members, assigning tasks, and working with the planner and MRO coordinator to ensure continuous production, when assigned by the manager.
  • Assist the Maintenance Planner by providing recommendations on preventive maintenance schedules and reporting on equipment status.
  • Assist the Parts Room Coordinator with handling parts requests, processing orders, and obtaining quotes.
  • Respond promptly to on-call requests for maintenance assistance during breakdowns.
  • Must be available to work weekends, different shifts as needed, and holidays.
  • Drive line performance by overseeing the entire operation, providing recommendations and improvements to achieve maximum output and maintain high-quality product standards.
  • Work with OEMs on all overhauls and rebuilds, including during weekends and holidays.
  • Develop and document centerlines for changeovers, SOPs, and OPLs for other maintenance activities.
  • Work with OEMs to troubleshoot complex equipment failures and assist the team in recovering as quickly as possible.
  • Strong project management and documentation skills.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Expertise in high-volume, high-speed production environments.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Two or more years of related experience in can or bottle production and/or training required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
